I’ve gone to dermotologist, used proactive solution, and almost about every over-the-counter stuff there is and still no solution. All i know is that i’m allergic to Salysic acid, so that rules out some acne medicines that i cannot use. Is there any medicine that is really good and won’t make me break-out even worse than i already am?

Yeah good job idiot anybody could go do that, that would sort of defeat the purpose of Yahoo answers though. I also don’t feel like waiting two months to ask him.

Ingrid Lihan asked:

Regardless of the gender, age or severity of acne and related skin blemishes, obtaining the services of a qualified dermatologist will allow prompt and effective treatment with acne medicine.

The dermatologist is a key player in identifying and treating the condition known as acne. Acne comes in several types and can affect different people in different ways. In order to definitively diagnose acne in the patient, the dermatologist relies on experience, training and various medical diagnostic tests. Determining the best type of acne medicine or treatment methods is the next step in the process. But, treatment of the individual with pimple or other similar skin eruptions and scarring requires additional assistance from the dermatologist. If you are fighting acne, pick a dermatologist who will provide support in several areas.

Recognition

The qualified dermatologist has a key role in implementing an acne medicine treatment plan. Although you may consider the appearance of pimples, whiteheads, blackheads and other lesions to be a sure sign of acne, in fact, there are numerous skin conditions that will manifest as one or more of the above symptoms. The treatment for acne may be very different than treatment for one of the other diseases. Only the experienced and knowledgeable will be able to distinguish between the symptoms of acne and similar symptoms caused by other diseases. This is true even when the acne is in its earliest stages.

Encouragement

The dermatologist is also responsible for providing encouragement to those patients who have acne. When the acne medicine helps to improve the appearance acne sufferer, it not only helps medically, but the acne sufferer begins to feel better emotionally. The self esteem level goes up simply due to the knowledge that physical appearance is improved. Any dermatologist can prescribe medication, either topical or oral, but it is a particularly sensitive physician who recognizes the importance of encouragement for the emotional well-being of the patient. Choose a dermatologist who recognizes the necessity for treating the whole person.

Latest treatment

The dermatologist qualified and experienced in the treatment of acne is in the best position to diagnose, define and prescribe the most effective acne medicine. In the last decade, treatment for acne has made giant strides. In the past, the best hope for acne sufferers was specialized soaps and skin cleansers which were sometimes harsh and damaging to the skin. Today, new treatments work effectively on the underlying causes of acne so that the condition is fought below the surface of the skin. Improvements in the knowledge base are being made constantly with hope for a complete cure in most patients now a reachable objective.

Prevent Scarring

The dermatologist charged with the treatment of pimple will also be able to assist in treatment to reduce the likelihood of scarring. In prescribing acne medicine by the dermatologist, most acne cases will show evidence of improvement. The dermatologist can also refer the acne sufferer to a cosmetic surgeon in order to further improve the appearance by removing acne scars. In recent years, the focus of the dermatologist has increasingly been to not only treat the symptoms, but to work at eliminating or reducing the disfiguring scars related to acne.

James Bruce asked:

While dermatologists normally treat moderate to harsh cases of acne, it is possible to treat mild acne breakouts at home. Best over the counter treatments that have such composite as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, resorcinol, and sulfur are frequently used to heal acne, however each works little differently.

While using best over the counter acne treatment, get aware of the possible side effects like skin irritation, burning or else redness that might lessen with continual use of a product. If indication persist or else worsen, talk to your dermatologist. You might need to consult dermatologist to observe which healing type is most excellent for your skin kind, acne type and series of breakouts. Your doctor might also advocate a prescription medicine to help manage breakouts. This set of treatments comprises antibiotics, tretinoin, benzoyl peroxide, adapalene as well as azelaic acid. With all the treatments, over the counter or medicine, products might need to be used only for 8 weeks or else more before the results are visible.

In early stage of ongoing war with the acne, majority people go to the pharmacy to purchase best over the counter treatment or medication. There are lots of treatments accessible for acne that can be a complex decision. Suggestion from friends is not reliable technique for making choice, as what work for 1 person might not work very well for another. You can get more informed selection about which acne product to try by knowing the active ingredients in various acne medicines.

Benzoyl Peroxide

it is the most accepted ingredients in the acne medications, the benzoyl peroxide is obtainable in gels as well as ointments. It kills bacteria, which causes pimples as well as help to remove dead skin cells, which build up on surface of your skin. These types of dead skin cells, while combined with the sebum (oil), generate blackheads and whiteheads. The dry skin is an only side effect that can be minimized with less recurrent application. It has bleaching effect, thus avoid hair and clothing while applying it.

Salicylic Acid

This is a popular acne ingredient that clears up the dead skin cells, which clog all your pores. Continued employ even after skin has cleared up is essential to avoid the future acne outburst. Again, side effect is dry, aggravated skin.

Resorcinol

Resorcinol causes top coating of skin to peel that removes dead skin cells, which clog the pores. Resorcinol is frequently joined with sulphur.

Sulphur

Because of strong, unlikable odor, sulphur is generally combined with few other elements. How it works is unidentified, but it has been used efficiently for decades. The sulphur is often mixed with salicylate acid plus benzoyl peroxide.

A Product among all these best over the counter acne treatment, the benzoyl peroxide is the most versatile form. It can be prepared into cleansing liquids, gels, bars, creams and lotions; all of them are applied straight to the skin. Cleansing products are generally used once or else twice daily, with lotions and creams that are applied as needed. They are effective when rubbed on area surrounding acne, and also on pimples themselves.

It is good idea to discuss with a doctor prior self-treating with any of the given medications. Although acne is fairly harmless state, a doctor can frequently offer better ideas and explain best way to hold your condition, which is based on your kind of acne. Healing for the acne breakouts can sort from fast fixes to the long-term routines for skin care set by dermatologist. With high-quality skin care, acne can be forbidden or barred. Finding right acne treatment might take time, since women have unstable skin kinds and sensitivities; however with proper skin care as well as best over the counter acne treatment, all women can have gorgeous, glowing skin.

Alisia Friend asked:

The essential methods of acne control are to keep pores from getting clogged, unclog infected pores, attack the bacteria causing the infection, and reduce the redness associated with acne. There are many preventive measures that you can take to reduce the chance of having an acne breakout in the first place.

Caring for your face with a gentle washing once or twice daily using just soap and water can make all the difference in keeping your pores clear. In addition to this, applying benzoyl peroxide will aid in drying out the skin as well as cleaning it even further. Benzoyl peroxide is the active ingredient in most over the counter facial wipes such as Oxy Pads. One of the truly nice things about using benzoyl peroxide is that it can be coupled with other acne treatments.

Using exfoliation has become a common technique in acne control. The removal of dead skin cells through exfoliation can help prevent them from clogging the pores of the skin, which in turn aids in preventing acne. The skin revealed by exfoliating is new, smooth, and much more healthy looking. It is important to know, however, that many of the agents found in exfoliating products can be very irritating to your skin. Before using them on your entire face, a small area of your skin should be tested to check for any negative reactions to these agents.

You’ll find that many acne products perform a dual function. They both exfoliate your skin and contain anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory medicines. Not only will this clear your skin of the dead cells, but it will also fight the bacteria associated with acne outbreaks and helps to lessen the redness due to inflammation.

Checking your acne products will reveal sulfur and azelaic acid as commonly used ingredients. It is always best to test acne products on a small patch of skin prior to using it everywhere, just to check for any adverse reaction. If you find that salicylic acid listed as one of the ingredients in acne product, you should be careful; even though salicylic acid works well in keeping your pores unclogged, it has been found to be very irritating to facial skin.

A consultation with a dermatologist may be required for the most severe cases of acne. He or she can assist you with putting together a cleansing program for you to follow. A dermatologist may also use lasers in the treatment of acne as well as prescribe acne medication. If your dermatologist does prescribe medication to aid in fighting your acne, be aware that most acne medicines are quite powerful and can even be toxic. You need to warned of any possible side effects and be alert to them if they do occur.

Not everyone needs to see a dermatologist for their acne condition. For some people the over the counter treatments are just fine and work great. If they solve your acne problem you will avoid the expense and dangers of taking prescription acne medications into your body, and suffer possible negative side effects.

If your acne is mild, you might be able to control it using over the counter preparations. If not, you will need something stronger.

Accutane, or Isotretinoin, is an example of a treatment for severe acne. This is sometimes prescribed for people who have tried topical treatments on their acne but experienced no results from them. Up to 38% of patients are cured after one course but if your acne is very stubborn, you might need two or more courses of the treatment. Other cures for severe acne include antibiotics, azelaic acid and adabalene. These treatments are available in various strengths depending on the severity, type and location of your acne.

Medicines for severe acne often have side effects such as burning, peeling, scaling, redness, stinging or skin discoloration. It takes time for your skin to adjust to the medication and it might take 6 weeks or more before a marked improvement is noticed. Your skin might look much worse after commencing the treatment but that is to be expected. If you have serious side effects or you feel that the treatment is not working, another visit to your dermatologist or physician is the next step because there are other things to try. You do have to be patient with these types of treatments though as they are not going to work overnight. If your acne is severe, you have probably already had it for a while and perhaps tried many other medications without success.

A topical or oral antibiotic might be prescribed for you if you have severe acne. Erythromyocin and Tetracycline are common types of oral antibiotics. Oral antibiotics work by curbing the bacterial growth and reducing inflammation. There are side effects you might get if you take oral antibiotics. These might include allergies, liver troubles, gastrointestinal problems or yeast infections. You should not take Erythromycin if you are taking astemisole, terfenadine or cisapride because the combination might cause heart irregularity. You should not take tetracycline with antacids containing calcium, aluminium, magnesium or sodium bicarbonate as they can decrease the absorption of the acne medicine. Iron pills can do the same. Tetracycline might also reduce the effectiveness of contraceptive pills. If you are taking any other medicines, you need to inform your dermatologist in case there is a counteraction and one or other of your medicines will not work properly or cause dangerous side effects for you.

There are a number of cures for severe acne so you should not give up because it is possible to get rid of the most stubborn acne although be prepared for the fact that it might take several months and you might need several courses of treatment before your acne is completely cleared.

Like me you have probably seen many times the proactive publicities on television. You see celebrities like Jessica Simpson, P.Diddy, Kelly Clarkson and many others telling how Proactiv Acne Medicine changed their lives. They try to convince you to buy their products by saying that proactive acne medicine completely cured them of their acne problem offering you gift, free shipping and such…

Yes we have heard it all….But the question is: Does it really work? What make proactive acne medicine different from the other products for treating acne?

Let’s look at it from another angle. Would two million people be using this product if it would not work? They show you celebrities on screen to tell you it works, but the fact is the huge quantity of users around the world who have used it proved that the Proactiv acne medicine works.

Who are the Developers?

Proactive was first launched in 1995 by Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields. But How Does it Work?

The second step is used to revitalize you’re your skin. The revitalizing toner is used to effectively soften your skin and to remove the impurities that often clog your pores.

Step 3 – The Repairing Lotion

This lotion is the last step and is used to eliminate the bacteria that cause acne at its source. This lotion helps to hydrate your skin and infiltrate the pores of your skin to stop the bacteria.
