I use to never have problems with acne at all and now I am broke out all over my chin and have scarring from some, I don’t know what to do! I have tried several products, wash my face every night, and have not changed anything in my routine. If anyone can help let me know-thank you!!!

Acne pimples do not affect everyone the same way or with the same level of severity. While it is true that majority of the people will or have experienced acne pimples at one point or another in their lives, their experience with acne will certainly differ to a great extent. For some pimples will be noting more than minor annoyance during prom or first date, for others it will become a life long battle. This is the reason why there are many different types of acne pimple treatments on the market including prescription and non-prescription.

The first thing to understand about acne is that not all acne is the same. In fact acne is graded on a scale of one to eight, with one being very minor and eight being quite severe. Minor acne such as small pimples known as Whiteheads or blackheads can be treated with various types of scrubs or skin exfoliants available of the counter at your local supermarket or drugstore whereas large acne lesions known as cysts will require specialized treatment, surgery or extra strong acne medicine to bring it under control.

Over the counter acne treatments available at your local drug store, super market or online for that matter are generally comprised of either one of two main ingredients including Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid. Neither seems to have an huge advantage over the other, however treatments containing salicylic acid tend to be preferred by people with sensitive skin over BP based treatments. Salicylic Acid appears to be far gentler on sensitive skin than its counterpart. Regardless of the treatment type, the ultimate goal of any acne treatment is to accelerate the skin exfoliating process so that the pore can be cleared quickly and acne can be prevented or minimized.

While minor to moderate amount of acne can be treated or controlled with over the counter treatments, it is not the case with extreme cases of acne lesions. Large lumps or cysts emerging from deep within the skin can only be treated with professional medical help. This is where acne medicine such as Accutane come to the rescue. While Accutane is know to have many dangerous side-effects it is one of the best known medications for treating severe cases of acne.

Minor to moderate acne can be treated with store bought treatments, but when it comes to treating severe acne, it is your best bet to consult with your doctor and have her determine the best course of action for you.

Do not get a tan when you are having acne problems. This will only cause your acne to aggravate. It may seem that when you get a tan your redness dissapears and you look much better, in fact this can serve to make it worse. Skin cancer and skin damage is some of the risk often associated with getting a tan and it is better for you to avoid these so called fast acne cure.

Sex hormones fluctuation and increase in the body can cause the sebaceous glands in the skin to over produce oil.Hair pores are the source of the oil production in your skin A problem may arise when the skin over produce the top layer and cause the keratin to plug the sebaceous glands pathway. Large quantity of sebum provides a fertile ground for bacteria to breed and mutiply. When an area under your skin is infected by bacteria, this will cause inflammation as blood vessels are expanded to allow more blood flow to the area. When this occurs, expect to see pus developing.

If you notice small and firm bump on the surface of your skin than it might probably a papule. A smaller version of acne but can be irritating as well. Bumps are formed from acne papule but the size it a bit smaller. Often it is known to be inflammatory type of acne.

The fluctuations in the hormone level will bring about over secretion of oil from the glands.Sebum is secreted by the sebaceous gland and as the hormone level triggers its enlargement, the amount of sebum will also increase. The pores will get blocked as the result of the increase of the sebum quantity and this will trap dirt and bacteria. Acne is caused by the bacteria and the sebum provides ample feeding ground for these bacteria to live on. Acne breakout is often seen as a teenagers problem due to the fact that acne breakout can be triggered by hormonal changes. The same hormonal changes that result in other bodily changes during puberty can also trigger this domino effect in our skin, leading to acne development.

The removal of acne scarring is not a simple task and there are things and precautions you must observe to avoid further damage to the affected area.Acne scarring is almost guaranteed when you start popping those pimple and once this happen it can be very difficult to remove the scar it leaves behind. But just doing these things does not guarantee that acne scarring will not be developed. The healing period for severe type of acne is particularly long and these can sometimes cause acne lesions to turn into scarring. For cystic acne, the nodules or cysts can stay on the skin for days, weeks, or even months, and can leave behind very visible scarring.
