I have gone through just about every acne medicine out there with my doctor, and he said that he wants to put me on accutane. Im kinda of nervous because of all the work that goes with it and the possible liver problems. If anyone is using it, it would be great to get some feed back on the medicine…pros and cons. Any facts would be welcome too!! THANKS!!!!!!

Plugged follicles can take the form of either whiteheads, where the plugged follicle remains beneath the skin’s surface, or blackheads, where the plug in the follicle extends to the skin’s surface and becomes visible. Once a follicle becomes plugged, it creates an ideal environment for a common sebum-eating skin bacterium, Propionibacterium acnes (or just P. Acnes), to multiply. This bacterium produces enzymes and chemicals that irritate and inflame the skin around a clogged follicle. Pimples, breakouts, or zits are common names for the lesions that result from this type of skin irritation and inflammation, though doctors have more precise ways of classifying acne lesions. For most people, acne is a generally mild condition. Of course, a pimple at the wrong time is never desirable, but in truth, there are far more concerning issues than acne. For some people, however, severe cases can result in permanent scarring if left untreated.

What Causes Acne?

The precise cause of acne is not known, but its onset is usually linked to a few key factors. One of the most important of these factors seems to be the increase in the production of androgen hormones that occurs in both men and women during puberty or adolescence.

Increased amounts of androgens in the body cause the sebaceous glands to become enlarged and to produce greater quantities of sebum (oil).

Other factors that are thought to contribute to acne include:

o Use of oil-based, pore-clogging cosmetics (look for non-comedogenic products).

o A family history of acne.

o Abrasion caused by over-vigorous scrubbing or frequent shaving.

o Exposure to high heat and humidity.

o The use of certain drugs, such as glucocorticoids, iodides, bromides, lithium, artificial androgens and others.

Treatment & Prevention

o At the surface…Since acne develops in clogged pores, use a keratolytic ingredient like Salicylic Acid to unclog pores.

o Deep down…Use an antibacterial ingredient like Benzoyl Peroxide to eliminate the P. Acnes inside the pore.

o Treat your skin everyday…Dermatologists agree that regular, consistent use is the key to a clear complexion.

Since normal changes in the body during puberty are the main contributors to acne, it’s no wonder virtually everyone experiences breakouts. Remember, your friends experience it, your parents probably experienced it, and it’s not a sign of personal failure when you experience it. Yes, even models and movie stars experience breakouts…of course; they have a lot of help hiding them!

Before becoming frustrated with all your pimples, you should read the clearpores reviews in order to make your mind about the efficiency of these types of products that can be really helpful for your skin condition. Acne may become quite discouraging for many people who will become keen on considering it as a genuine dilemma. But this is not the case. You should avoid thinking that your pimples will never go away because this is wrong; on the contrary, you may start reading the acne treatment reviews in order to find the product that is likely to work for you.

But regardless of the type of treatment you are going to choose, you will have to make sure that this cure is suitable for your acne condition and skin type. Every person is likely to come along with the specific skin type that has to be taken into account when searching for a new cure that may work miracles in your own case. Therefore, you should read the clearpores reviews in order to have updated information by your side. But if you are suffering from a severe acne condition, the professional must be visited in order to prescribe you the necessary medicine that will heal your skin problem.

For instance, the skin specialist can prescribe you an oral treatment that is likely to be more effective than the topical one that sometimes does not make any difference when it comes to observing the evident improvements and positive effects. For instance, the professional may also prescribe you a medicine called Differin; this medicine is used n order to cure the acne condition in a rapid manner but if you are not fully convinced of its effectiveness, you can also check the acne treatment reviews in order to clear your mind. This medicine is among the most popular ones thanks to its proven effectiveness; in case that this medicine does not work in your case, you will have to look for another one in order to get rid of your pimples.

The entire industry that deals with the constant manufacture of the acne skin products is growing from one year to another; people tend to pass from one medicine to another because they are hoping to find the best solution for their acne problem. But these people should become aware that changing the acne treatment once a week is not likely to lead to positive results; on the contrary, the skin will become more prone to developing the nasty outbreaks because its pores will be aggressed by the permanently changing products. Another aspect that should be taken into account and that is emphasized by all the clearpores reviews is that people should be more patient when it comes to trying a single product.

They have to take their time in order to allow the product to have the desired results; many acne products are regarded as ineffective ones but their “ineffectiveness” may be due to the people’s lack of patience. The instructions of every acne treatment are to be followed; every acne treatment will come along with these instructions and they are especially designed in order to convince people of the effectiveness of a particular acne product. Very good reasons are implied along the process; for instance, if you use a particular product too much, you are likely to affect your skin pores in a negative manner.

The skin will become irritated and this feature will make it more prone to the acne occurrence. If the medicine is not used according to the instructions that usually listed on its label, the effectiveness of the entire treatment is likely to be lowered in an irreversible manner thus wasting the person’s money and time. So, if you are trying a new acne product, you will have to learn how to become patient because the effects may be noticeable only after a couple of weeks; you should not rush into believing that the product is not efficient in your case. On the contrary, you will have to take the required time in order to make sure that the medicine has no effects on your skin condition.

The acne treatment reviews emphasize the importance of using the acne medicine in the appropriate manner by paying attention to all its prescriptions and indications; you have to know how to use just enough of the entire treatment in order not to damage the positive effects and their final quality. You will have to pay attention in order not to overuse a particular acne medicine; you have to be perfectly aware that the product’s so-called ineffectiveness should not be mistake with your own impatience that is not likely to do you any good when it comes to treating a severe acne form.

What has worked for you? I have always had problems with Acne Medicine due to a few things.
I already have eczema on my face. If you don’t know what eczema is: The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent skin conditions. These include dryness and recurring skin rashes which are characterized by one or more of these symptoms: redness, itching and dryness.

Plus I have sensitive skin. So the medicine has to be gentle but work well. So yeah. Please and thank you.

Ingrid asked:

The dermatologist is a key player in identifying and treating the condition known as acne.  Acne comes in several types and can affect different people in different ways. In order to definitively diagnose acne in the patient, the dermatologist relies on experience, training and various medical diagnostic tests.  Determining the best type of acne medicine or treatment methods is the next step in the process. But, treatment of the individual with pimple or other similar skin eruptions and scarring requires additional assistance from the dermatologist. If you are fighting acne, pick a dermatologist who will provide support in several areas.

Recognition

The qualified dermatologist has a key role in implementing an acne medicine treatment plan. Although you may consider the appearance of pimples, whiteheads, blackheads and other lesions to be a sure sign of acne, in fact, there are numerous skin conditions that will manifest as one or more of the above symptoms. The treatment for acne may be very different than treatment for one of the other diseases.  Only the experienced and knowledgeable will be able to distinguish between the symptoms of acne and similar symptoms caused by other diseases. This is true even when the acne is in its earliest stages.

Encouragement

The dermatologist is also responsible for providing encouragement to those patients who have acne.  When the acne medicine helps to improve the appearance acne sufferer, it not only helps medically, but the acne sufferer begins to feel better emotionally.  The self esteem level goes up simply due to the knowledge that physical appearance is improved.  Any dermatologist can prescribe medication, either topical or oral, but it is a particularly sensitive physician who recognizes the importance of encouragement for the emotional well-being of the patient. Choose a dermatologist who recognizes the necessity for treating the whole person.

Latest treatment

The dermatologist qualified and experienced in the treatment of acne is in the best position to diagnose, define and prescribe the most effective acne medicine. In the last decade, treatment for acne has made giant strides.  In the past, the best hope for acne sufferers was specialized soaps and skin cleansers which were sometimes harsh and damaging to the skin.  Today, new treatments work effectively on the underlying causes of acne so that the condition is fought below the surface of the skin.  Improvements in the knowledge base are being made constantly with hope for a complete cure in most patients now a reachable objective.

Prevent Scarring

The dermatologist charged with the treatment of pimple will also be able to assist in treatment to reduce the likelihood of scarring.  In prescribing acne medicine by the dermatologist, most acne cases will show evidence of improvement. The dermatologist can also refer the acne sufferer to a cosmetic surgeon in order to further improve the appearance by removing acne scars. In recent years, the focus of the dermatologist has increasingly been to not only treat the symptoms, but to work at eliminating or reducing the disfiguring scars related to acne.

Ingrid Lihan asked:

Acne medicine research has been a substantial pharmaceutical field for a decade or more.  The research has taken place in several arenas, but mostly in the area of antibiotics to control the bacteria, into identifying the causes of the condition, into the relationship between acne and hormone levels, and into the surgical treatments that are available for reducing or eliminating the physical signs and scarring of acne. In some areas, the breakthroughs have been substantial, but others are simply building one step or bit of information upon another. Information that is being studied may be positive in nature, i.e, to prove something to be true or it may accomplish a negative result, such as when a previously held opinion is proved to be incorrect.

Antibiotics

A prime weapon in the arsenal against acne is that of antibiotics.  These prescription drugs fight the bacteria that collect under the skin and around the oil producing glands. Some types of topical antibiotics attack the bacteria that grow on the surface of the skin.  Both topical and oral medications are useful in acne medicine treatments.  The most common antibiotic used in treatment of the condition is tetracycline with erythromycin a close second. Acne sufferers also can pick clindamycin or doxycycline.

Causes

An understanding of the exact cause of acne is still not complete, although research has been able to identify numerous links or correlations that appear to be significant. For example, hormone production levels that fluctuate wildly will cause outbreaks. Since the condition is common during the teenage years, it is not surprising that adolescence is the time when over 90 percent of the United States population experience acne outbreaks. The study into causes for various types of acne has brought breakthroughs into the development of acne medicine. Since one of the major links is that between acne and hormones, new medical breakthroughs focus on adjusting hormone levels.

Surgical treatment

Exciting breakthroughs in the surgical treatment is the choice of top cosmetic surgeons.  The earlier surgical treatment was effective in removing scars resulting from acne, but latest learning has made modern laser treatment much more common and easily accessible to anyone who wants to treat their scarring aggressively.  Consult with a trained and experienced dermatologist to experience acne medicine on the cutting edge of technology. Cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists also use the procedures of dermabrasion and chemical peeling to remove scars resulting from acne.

Hormone

Hormone levels, such as that of testosterone, seem to have a negative effect on the normal development of the cells lining the sebaceous glands.  Instead of going through a normal process of being expelled from the surface of the skin, along with other dead cells, they become sticky and form a plug in the outlet to the gland. At the same time, the glands continue to pump out sebum which soon fills up the available space and becomes infected. Acne medicine helps to adjust the hormone level in the blood stream and in the tissues of the body.  The proven link between hormone levels and acne is good reason for taking advantage of today information about cause and effect as well as that of treatment for the acne condition.
